Teriyaki Canned Pork and Rice

This recipe is the peanut butter and jelly of Asian cuisine. A go to quick meal to make for lunch or dinner. Make it into a bowl, mix it together, or create a Musubi as you eat! Hawaii loves this dish.

Tip: You may can cut your canned pork however you like – bite size, cubed, or stripped.

Tip: You can swap canned ham for any other canned meat product. You can also swap brown sugar for maple syrup.

LEVEL 1 (BOTTOM OF POT)

  • 1 cup short grain white rice, rinsed
  • 2 cups water

LEVEL 2 (CRISPER TRAY)

  • 1 can (12 ounces) pork and ham product, cut into cubes or planks
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled, minced

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS

  • 1 egg, cooked to preference
  • 1 teaspoon toasted white sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon toasted black sesame seeds
  • 2 scallions, sliced thin

Utensils

  • Medium Bowl
  • Measuring Cups
  • Silicone-Tipped Tongs
  • Step 1

    Place all Level 1 ingredients in the pot and stir to combine.

  • Step 2

    Pull out the legs on the Crisper Tray, then place the tray in the elevated position in the pot.

  • Step 3

    In a medium bowl, add the soy sauce, Maple syrup, pepper, ginger, and garlic, and stir to combine. Then add the pork product and gently stir to combine. Allow pork to marinade for 10 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Place the pork on the Crisper Tray.

  • Step 5

    Close the lid and flip the SmartSwitch™ to RAPID COOKER.

  • Step 6

    Select SPEEDI MEALS, set temperature to 375°F, and set time to 20. Press START/STOP to begin cooking (the unit will steam for approximately 15 minutes before crisping).

  • Step 7

    After 12 minutes, open the lid and transfer the pork to a plate. Then use silicone-tipped tongs to grab the center handle and remove the tray from the unit. Close the lid to continue cooking the rice.

  • Step 8

    When cooking is complete, transfer the rice to a bowl. Serve with teriyaki pork and toppings as desired.
