Crisper Tray
Step 1
Pour 2 cups of water into the pot. Push in the legs on the Crisper Tray, then place the try in the bottom of the pot. Spray the Multi-Purpose Pan (or 8-inch round baking pan) with cooking spray.
Step 2
Melt ½ cup of butter in a medium saucepan. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla. Keep over medium heat and cook for about 3 minutes until smooth and thickened slightly. Pour the caramel into the greased cake pan and top with the apple slices.
Step 3
Add the remaining 1/2 cup of butter and brown sugar to a medium bowl and using a hand mixer, beat until creamy. Add the eggs and milk and beat until incorporated. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Pour the cake batter on top of the caramel and apple in the cake pan. Place pan on the tray.
Step 4
Close the lid and flip the SmartSwitch™ to Rapid Cooker. Select STEAM & BAKE, set temperature to 325°F, and set time for 10 minutes. Press START/STOP to begin cooking (the unit will steam for approximately 20 minutes before crisping).
Step 5
When cooking is complete, check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, carefully remove the tray with pan and let cool for 10 minutes. If the toothpick comes out with batter stuck to it, continue to bake until cooked all the way through. Once cooled, sprinkle with sea salt and serve.
