Crispy Popcorn Shrimp

These air-crisp popcorn shrimp get crispy and crunchy without needing to use any oil. Pair them with smoky, spicy dipping sauce.

Tip: Try to find the smallest shrimp so they will all cook evenly.

Cooking mode

Step-by-step instruction without your screen going to sleep

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 pound small shrimp, peeled and deveined (raw and defrosted)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chipotle chilis
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Kosher salt, as desired
  • Cooking spray

  • Step 1

    In a shallow dish, add flour. In a separate shallow dish, add eggs and water. In a third shallow dish, add breadcrumbs, cumin, and garlic powder. Dredge shrimp first in the flour, then the egg, then the panko, shaking off excess.

  • Step 2

    To install the grill grate, position it flat on top of the heating element and gently press down until it sits in place. Place crisper basket on grill grate, then close the hood.

  • Step 3

    Turn the dial to AIR CRISP, set temperature to 360°F, and set time to 10 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating (preheating will take approx. 8-10 minutes). 

  • Step 4

    While unit is preheating, make the sauce. In a small bowl combine ketchup, chipotles, cilantro, lime juice and salt

  • Step 5

    When unit beeps to signify it has preheated and ADD FOOD is displayed, open hood and place shrimp in the basket. Spray the shrimp with an even layer of cooking spray to help crisp the shrimp. Close the hood and begin cooking. After 5 minutes, open the hood and use silicone-tipped tongs to toss the shrimp. Close the lid and continue cooking.

  • Step 6

    When cooking is complete, open hood, and remove shrimp. Serve with dipping sauce.
