Air Fried Apple Crisp
This recipe is like Fall on a plate. Cinnamon, nutmeg, apples, and a crisp streusel gives off all the wonderful flavors of fall. Take this dish to the next level by using the Air Crisp and Woodfire Technology settings on our Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. The kiss of real wood smoke flavor absolutely makes this dish!
TIP: Use a mix of Granny Smith and a sweeter apple, such as Honey Crisp or Golden Delicious.
TIP: Cold butter is best for the streusel topping.

Filling
- 4-5 apples, diced into ½ inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Pinch Kosher salt
- Butter, for greasing
Topping
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
- Pinch Kosher salt
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, cold, diced
Utensils
- 8 x 8 Baking Dish
- Wooden Spoon

- Two Medium Bowls

Step 1
In a medium bowl, prepare the filling by mixing apples with lemon juice, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt until the apples are completely coated.

Grease a 8 x 8 baking dish with butter then pour the apple filling into the baking dish.

In a separate medium bowl, prepare the topping by whisking together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

Add the cold cubed butter to the dry topping and use your hands to mix until the butter and dry topping come together in a pebbly, crumble texture mixture.

Add a third of the topping over the apple filling and mix together. Then sprinkle the remaining topping over the apple filling.

To install the grill plate, position it flat on top of the heating element and gently press down until it sits into place. Close the hood.

While holding the smoke box lid open, use the pellet scoop to pour a ½ cup of the all-purpose blend of pellets into the smokebox. Then close the smoke box lid.

Turn dial to AIR CRISP. Press WOODFIRE FLAVOR. Set temperature to 325°F and set time to 45 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating (preheating will take approx. 5 minutes).

When unit beeps to signify it has preheated and ADD FOOD is displayed, open hood and place baking dish on the grill grate. Close hood to begin cooking.

Cooking will be complete when the streusel topping is a dark golden brown. When cooking is complete, open hood, remove baking dish from grill and let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Serve with vanilla ice cream you made in your Ninja Creami (or store bought) and enjoy!
