Smoked Spicy Margarita

These margaritas aren’t your average cocktail! Spicy jalapeños and smoked fruit flavor these zingy margaritas. Serve these up at your next taco night and watch your friends rave over how fun they are!

TIP: If desired, add sparkling water or lemonade for an additional flavor boost.

Step-by-step instruction without your screen going to sleep

  • 4 limes, peeled, cut in half
  • 2 navel oranges, peeled, cut in half
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, cut in half
  • 2 cups (16 fluid ounces) tequila
  • ½ cup (4 fluid ounces) triple sec
  • 2–4 tablespoons simple syrup

  • Step 1

    To install the grill grate, position it flat on top of the heating element and gently press down until it sits into place, then close the hood. Turn dial to GRILL, set the temperature to HI, and set time to 5 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating (preheating will take approx. 11 minutes).

  • Step 2

    When unit beeps to signify it has preheated and ADD FOOD is displayed, open hood and place the fruit and peppers cut side down on the grill. Leave hood open and grill for 5 minutes. When cooking is complete, remove the fruit and peppers from the grill grate.

  • Step 3

    In an 11″x7″ glass baking dish, add the tequila, triple sec, fruit, and peppers. Place the baking dish on the grill grate, then close the hood.

  • Step 4

    While holding the smoke box lid open, use the pellet scoop to pour pellets into the smoke box until filled to the top. Then close the smoke box lid.

  • Step 5

    Turn dial to SMOKER, set temperature to 325°F, and set time to 35 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin cooking (preheating is not needed).

  • Step 6

    When cooking is complete, open hood and remove baking dish from grill. Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes, then place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes.

  • Step 7

    Once the fruit is chilled, remove and discard the peppers. Remove fruit from the tequila mixture and squeeze the juice into a large pitcher. Strain the tequila mixture into the pitcher, add simple syrup and stir to combine. Serve over ice in salt-rimmed glasses and garnish with additional lime wedges.
