Earth Day Sorbet

This Earth Day-friendly sorbet checks many boxes when it comes to supporting Mother Earth, like limiting food waste and using sustainable ingredients. Using the entire kiwi (including the peel!) allows for zero-waste, and repurposing the orange rinds for biodegradable bowls makes for an earth-friendly vessel to serve your treat in. Leaning on locally sourced raw honey is a sustainable choice that adds natural sweetness. This sorbet can be used with most fruit that is on the brink of spoiling, giving you a way to enjoy your produce without wasting it.

TIP: If you don’t have kiwis on-hand, substitute one cup of berries for a satisfying sorbet. If you are choosing strawberries as an ingredient, remember that the green top is edible, so toss the entire berry into the blender and avoid encountering any food waste.

  • 4 medium-sized oranges, peeled
  • 2 very ripe kiwis, skin on
  • 1 ½ tablespoon locally sourced raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest, optional

Utensils

  • Ninja® Cold Press Juicer Pro
  • Blender
  • Step 1

Juice the oranges using the Ninja® Cold Press Juicer Pro. You should have approximately 1 cup of juice.

  • Step 2

Add the orange juice (approx. 1 cup, but this may vary on the size of your oranges), kiwis (with skin on), and honey in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.

  • Step 3

Pour base into an empty CREAMi™ Pint. Place storage lid on pint and freeze for 24 hours.

  • Step 4

Remove pint from freezer and remove lid from pint. Place pint in outer bowl, install Creamerizer™ Paddle in outer bowl lid, and lock the lid assembly onto the outer bowl. Place bowl assembly on motor base and twist the handle right to raise the platform and lock in place.

  • Step 5

    Select SORBET.

  • Step 6

When processing is complete, remove sorbet from pint and serve immediately. Top with orange zest if desired.
