Step-by-step instruction without your screen going to sleep

  • 2 slices deli ham
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 teaspoons + 2 teaspoons maple syrup, divided
  • 1 teaspoon + 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon +1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • sheets store-bought puff pastry, defrosted
  • 1/2 cup water, for steaming
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Utensils

  • Ring Molds
  • Baking Sheet
  • Step 1

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then set aside. Thinly slice the ham and Swiss cheese into 1 x 1/4-inch strips. Add them to a medium bowl along with 2 teaspoons maple syrup, 1 teaspoon sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Stir until evenly coated.

  • Step 2

Unroll the puff pastry and, using a 2 1/2 to 3-inch ring mold, cut into 16 circles. Using a 1/2-inch or 1-inch diameter ring mold (or a knife), cut a smaller circle in the center of each of the larger circles of dough (discard these small circles—the “cronut holes”—or save for another use).

  • Step 3

Transfer 8 of the 16 pastry circles to the parchment-lined baking sheet. Evenly divide the ham and cheese mixture onto the 8 pastry circles, then top each circle with the remaining 8 pastry circles. Sprinkle the tops of the cronuts evenly with the remaining 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

  • Step 4

Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 15 minutes to allow the pastry to properly rise. The colder the dough, the better.

  • Step 5

Add 1/2 cup water to the pot. Spray the Cook & Crisp Basket with nonstick cooking spray, then place in the pot. Place 3 to 4 cronuts in the basket.

  • Step 6

Close the lid and move the slider to STEAMCRISP. Select Steam & Crisp, set temperature to 325°F, and set time to 12 minutes. Press START/STOP to begin cooking (PrE will display for approx. 7 minutes as the unit steams, then the timer will start counting down).

  • Step 7

When cooking is complete, remove the basket, transfer the cronuts to a serving plate, and drizzle evenly with the remaining 2 teaspoons maple syrup. Repeat with the remaining cronuts.
